Lloyd Wiggan has been named the new Managing Director of Butterfield Bank (Barbados) Limited.
Mr. Wiggan previously held the position of Senior Vice President, Retail Banking at the Bank’s Head Office in Bermuda.
Alan R. Thompson, President & CEO of Butterfield Bank, congratulated Mr. Wiggan on his appointment, stating: “We welcome an international career banker with 35-plus years of experience to the position of Managing Director in Barbados.”
Mr. Wiggan spent over 20 years at Citicorp where he held a number of senior positions, including that of Vice President and Senior Country Operations Officer for that bank’s Jamaica operations.
He also worked as a consultant with Scotiabank and with the Government of Jamaica, coordinating the merger of several distressed financial entities.
Educational qualifications and professional development for the new Managing Director include: Senior Executive Management Programmes at the University of Illinois; Trinity College in Ireland and several advanced banking programmes in the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America.
He is a former Chairman of the Bermuda International Business Association and Member of Bermuda’s Tax Appeal Tribunal Panel.
Mr. Wiggan has also served as a Director on the Boards of a number of companies both in Bermuda and overseas.
