(Hamilton, Bermuda – 23 March 2006): Butterfield Bank today announced that it has been named ‘Best Bank in Bermuda’ for 2006 by Global Finance magazine. This is the second consecutive year Butterfield Bank has won this award, and follows its fourth consecutive annual award as the Best Bank in Bermuda by The Banker magazine in September 2005.
Global Finance is a highly-regarded publication based in New York, reaching more than 250,000 readers in over 158 countries. Global Finance editors chose the winners after extensive consultations with bankers, corporate financial executives and analysts throughout the world. The editors were specifically looking for banks that attended carefully to their customers’ needs and accomplished enviable results while laying the foundations for future success.
“Butterfield Bank is very pleased to have been recognised by Global Finance as Bermuda’s best bank for the second year in a row,” commented Alan Thompson, President & Chief Executive Officer. “We work hard to serve our customers, provide competitive products and rates, and strengthen our performance. This award reflects the efforts of the Butterfield family of employees, and together we will continue to seek ways of improving our service and products to our valued Bermuda customers.”
The April issue of Global Finance will feature a report on all of the winners.
“We look for operations that set the standard for the competition,” said Joseph Giarraputo, president and publisher of Global Finance. “We recognise these banks for their outstanding accomplishments. Conditions in each market may have differed but the winning banks were all noteworthy in their dedication to satisfying their customers’ needs.”
