Butterfield Bank Kicks Off FIFA World Cup™ Contest for Butterfield Bank MasterCard® Credit Card Customers

 (Hamilton, Bermuda – Thursday 19 January 2006): Butterfield Bank today launched a contest for its Butterfield Bank MasterCard® credit card customers, with a grand prize of an all-expenses-paid trip for four to Germany and tickets to three FIFA World Cup™ 2006 matches in three different cities.  The contest launched with Butterfield Bank employees, wearing bright orange shirts, waving Bermuda commuters to work in the morning and handing out cooler bags and stadium seats cushions on the streets of Hamilton at lunch time.

 

arting today and running until Friday 3 March 2006, customers will be automatically entered into the draw each time they make a purchase on their personal Butterfield Bank MasterCard® credit card during the contest period.  It doesn’t matter what size the purchase is or where it takes place – whether you are buying a few groceries or a new computer.  Customers who successfully apply for, or upgrade to a Butterfield Bank MasterCard® credit card during the contest period will also be entered, as long as they have made a purchase on their new card by Friday 3 March. 

 

Butterfield Bank merchants also have a chance to go to the FIFA World Cup™.   Every time one of their customers use a Butterfield Bank MasterCard® credit card during the same contest period, the merchants will be entered into a separate draw for an all expenses trip for two to Germany and tickets to one FIFA World Cup™ 2006 game.

 

“We’re very pleased to offer this exciting chance for our customers to travel to the FIFA World Cup™ 2006,” said Susan Mylchreest, Vice President, Electronic Banking.  “This is one of the world’s biggest sporting events and all of our Butterfield Bank MasterCard® credit card holders and merchants in Bermuda have the opportunity to win a trip to experience it first hand in Germany.  Last year we were the Bank to offer a credit card that takes you places; this year we can take you to the FIFA World Cup™.  Customers that use our Butterfield / AAdvantage® MasterCard® credit card will earn an American Airlines AAdvantage® mile for every dollar they spend, and still be entered for the draw.”

 

The winners will be announced on Thursday 30 March 2006.
