At Butterfield, we are committed to supporting Bermuda’s young people and their future.
Butterfield offers an undergraduate scholarship in memory of Sir Harry D. Butterfield and two postgraduate scholarships; the Sir A. Dudley Spurling Postgraduate Scholarship and the Dr. James A.C. King Medical Scholarship.
The Sir Harry D. Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to a Bermudian student commencing or already pursuing a first degree overseas at an accredited university.
The Sir A. Dudley Spurling Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to a Bermudian student commencing or pursuing a postgraduate degree at an approved university abroad.
The Dr. James A.C. King Medical Scholarship is awarded on a bi-annual basis to a Bermudian student who is within two years of completing an accredited medical degree programme.
The Bank also offers two Overseas Education Bursaries, and two Visual Arts Awards.
Students should be aware of the difference between scholarships and awards and the selection criteria used for each one. Criteria used in selecting scholarship recipients include academic achievement, character, leadership qualities, civic attainment, and involvement and achievements in non-curricular activities, including the arts and sports. The criteria used in granting awards or student loans may be some or all of the above; however, special emphasis is placed on financial need.
